Nicholas Rodney "Nick" Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter and musician best known for his haunting, acoustic, autumnal songs. During his final years, the producer was taken aback at Drake's anger and bitterness: "[He said that] I had told him he was a genius, and others had concurred. Why wasn't he famous and rich. This rage must have festered beneath that inexpressive exterior for years." He was hired for his fourth and last album album; his mother later recalled, "We were so absolutely thrilled to think that Nick was happy because there hadn't been any happiness in Nick's life for years."
Nick Drake died at home from an overdose of amitriptyline at the age of 26 years.
"Would you love me for my money
Would you love me for my head
Would you love me through the winter
Would you love me 'til I'm dead?"
